The rest of the upgrade is documented directly in the XOOPS upgrade utility.
Once the update is complete, the system module needs to be updated and maintenance performed to clear the various XOOPS caches. Now you need to proceed to update all modules with their latest version

My site is no longer working
We warned you, it would have been wise to do the tests locally but don't panic, we can:
- Test with the xswatch theme and deactivate all the modules (you activate the modules as you go along to see which one is the problem)
- Restore files and database with the backup you made
- Follow the tutorial that explains how to switch from smarty2 to smarty3
